Victim Advocacy

What is the role of a Victim Advocate?

They are confidential individuals who are specially trained to understand the neurobiology of trauma and the impacts of trauma on an individual and family. They are here to help connect you with helpful resources, support you, and walk with you through your healing journey.

Our Victim Advocates at ASSIST Indiana are knowledgeable about the resources and programs within the community and state. They can help connect with you additional supports as needed. You can also find links to local and state resources by going to our “Resources” tab on the main page.

Our advocates can also assist with filing a Protective Order from our office electronically or in person at the courthouse. Please call and make and appointment.

We can also accompany petitioners to some hearings as additional support.

Walk-ins are welcome. Please ask for Michelle Hendrix-Swords or Abby Joyner.
