Position Overview
The Victim Advocate provides support, advocacy, and resources to victims and their families throughout the recovery and justice process. This role works closely with community partners to help survivors understand their options and access the services they need.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or human service related fields
- Minimum of two years experience in advocacy or related field
- Preferred willingness to go through forensic interview training or experience/training in forensic interviewing or medical background
Key Responsibilities
- Provide crisis support and advocacy
- Support victims and families through medical, legal, and social service systems
- Connect survivors with community resources
- Assist with forensic medical exams and court processes
- Maintain confidential documentation
- Collaborate with community partners
- Participate in outreach and education

ASSIST Indiana is seeking an experienced, compassionate professional to join our team and help lead trauma-informed clinical services for adults, children, and families.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervising trauma counselors, victim advocates, and bachelor’s- and master’s-level social work students
• Maintaining a client caseload and providing individual and family therapy
• Facilitating support groups for clients accessing ASSIST services
• Supporting student interns and overseeing their client caseloads
• Applying an in-depth understanding of trauma treatment, client eligibility, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field
• Current LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT license
• Three to five years of clinical experience in trauma services
• Specialized training in complex-trauma treatment, such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Neurofeedback, A.R.T., hypnotherapy, play therapy, or sand tray therapy
• Ability to communicate effectively with people from various backgrounds using age-appropriate communication skills

- Provide forensic nursing care and evidence collection in accordance with SANE protocols

- Document exams thoroughly and maintain evidence chain of custody
- Collaborate with law enforcement, advocates, and healthcare partners
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance

Qualifications
- Current Indiana RN license
