Helping survivors of violence is a community effort

ASSIST is here to support victims of crime and people in need of critical care and services in and around Johnson County. You can help us help them by donating cash, supplies, and even volunteering.

Donating cash is the best way to help

Cash is easy and quick and can be put to use for urgent needs. Additionally, cash donations provide unrestricted funds that help us cover costs that grants typically don’t, such as snacks for the waiting room, gas cards to support families in urgent need, and more.

Cash also helps us with “reimbursement grants”, where we have costs associated with a service, such as forensic interviews, covered but have to cover those costs for as much as 90 days while awaiting reimbursement from a government agency or grantor.

Monthly donations help us with predicable cash flow and are most beneficial!

Volunteer at ASSIST

Since much of our work is confidential and discretion that volunteering is best arranged in advance with our team.

There are many ways to volunteer with ASSIST, such as

Days of Service with an employer,
Helping us setup and manage events, and
Working with survivors in various semi-public group settings.

Volunteers are required to complete a training session and background check before starting.
